My memorable memory
In my childhood, I was a shy boy, especially, I was very afraid of ghosts. I never went out by myself as it was getting dark. But finally, my fear happened to me even when I was in my own home. Up to now, I still have not forgotten that memorable memory.
My terrible memory came on a Saturday night of summer when my parents and younger brother went to my grandfather’s house. So, they let me at home. After they had left the house I closed all the doors and windows immediately. Because it was a weekend, I did not need to do my homework as well as prepared my lesson for the class. I had a lot of free time. I knew nothing to do apart from enjoying entertainment on television. While I was lying in the hammock by a bed to watch a football match, which I had waited for long time, suddenly I heard a weird sound that was echoing from the garden back. I thought about ghosts for my friends told me “ghosts always appeared at night. They had long black hair, two long sharp teeth. They only wore all in white and moved on their one leg. They will eat anyone that they see”. Maybe, they were calling one another. At that time, my hair was standing up and scary feeling was running all over my body. To decrease my own fear, I turned the volume louder. In fact, the sound did not disappear it was louder and louder. I was not courageous enough to carry on lying in the hammock. So, I jumped into the bed without switching off the lights and television and took the blanket to cover over me from the top to the feet. Under the blanket, my body was shaking, shaking and shaking. Sweat was through my white T-shirt. Although hot, I decided not to take the blanket off. All I hoped was my parents would come back sooner. Finally, they returned I was so gleeful that I jumped out of the bed and shouted up. My parents were absolutely surprised at my behaviors. I ran to my dad and ask what that was the sound. It sounded too terrible. He smiled at me and replied that was owls’ voices. I had supposed that was ghosts’ voices. He also explained there were not any ghosts on earth.
That is only one of my childhood memories, but I cannot forget it. To me, it seems to have occurred yesterday. And through it, I have not scared ghosts any longer.
